My Electric Tongue Jack is functioning intermittedly. Is there anyway to correct this?

Historically when we have intermittent function with the tongue jack we find that it is usually a grounding issue.

Important

The electric tongue jack is grounded internally. What that means is that the motor is grounded through the jack tube and the frame of the trailer. To insure a good ground connection Ultra-Fab is providing a star washer to use with the install.

Use the star washer on any one of the bolts used to secure the jack to the trailer frame. The star washer has serrated flanges or teeth that will bite or cut through the paint on the jack and bolt head. This will assure a good contact and ground. This should eliminate any grounding issues.

A quick test, with a jumper cable or heavy wire, make a connection with a bolt on the lower side of the motor ( any of the 4 bolts will do) and with the other end connected to the negative post of the trailer's battery. This is an external ground, if the problem is in fact a grounding issue, the motor will run with these connections.

Please run this test, if it fails, we need to look at brushes, loose connections or switch failure.
